We just completed a complete makeover for our computer - new motherboard and processor, more memory, and a clean install of the OS. While I am excited for the zippy speeds I am able to edit photos at, as well as faster loading times for all my programs, it has been a harrowing few days. I always get soo nervous that something will go wrong and I will lose all my information, even though we backed it all up in several places. Earlier I could not find the folder that contained ALL my photos. As in, every single photo I have taken since my son was a baby, including family and client photos, and all my special projects. I was freaking out! Fortunately, my wonderful husband found them and restored them. Phew! It really pays to backup your files, and even better in multiple places!
