We just got back from the best vacation ever! The first week we went to IL. to the 14U “A” National Softball Championship. Valerie’s Travel Team “CINCY DOOM 99” played in the tournament. Valerie did well and pitched a couple games in the Nationals and ended up with a tournament batting average of .500!!! It was a great experience for the team and Valerie and will definitely look good on her softball resume. From there we headed West to Colorado for two weeks. Lu’s Brother Dean has a 165 acre Ranch in the Rocky Mountains near Pueblo. While there we experienced a ton of wildlife! Photos to follow…. We Hiked up the Rockies on the ranch to explore several Silver Mines on his ranch. On the way we found two elk sheds and a mule deer shed. We also toured COORS Brewery in Golden Colorado, we went to a Rockies /Pirates game and a Rosario home run ball hit the crowd two seats to the right from us in left field. We were on ESPN highlights! We visited and stayed at a 5 Star Ameristar Resort and Casino in Blackhawk. I won $100.00 on the slot machines! Rocky Mountain National Park, top of Pike’s Peak, Sand Dunes National Park, and a trip to Cripple Creek rounded out the trip. On the way to Cripple Creek we took “Shelf Road” NEVER AGAIN! This is a back-road “Shortcut” through the mountains on a dirt road that is only as wide as your truck is wide! You cannot open one side of the vehicle door as it is up against the rocks on the mountain. The other side is straight down thousands feet with no guard-rails! As the vehicle goes around a corner you cannot see over the hood! When another vehicle comes the other way you or them have to back up to some of the few pull-over spots! Anyways we had a blast!
