We just learned that tomorrow morning, the Senate will take a vote to end debate and move forward on consideration of the Paycheck Fairness Act (S. 2199). This legislation, which failed to move forward back in 2012 and also earlier this year, would hold employers accountable for pay discrepancies between male and female employees and strengthen incentives to prevent pay discrimination. If passed, this bill, along with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which was the first piece of legislation signed into law by President Obama to allow more time for women to sue for pay disparity, will go a long way toward ending this type of discrimination in the workplace. Equal pay for equal work is long overdue. Please email your Senators right now and ask that they support the Paycheck Fairness Act.
