We just spent the greater part of the day out in Minden. Took out - TopicsExpress

We just spent the greater part of the day out in Minden. Took out 2 sets of twin beds and some miscellaneous things for the house we rented for some sister missionaries. The ward they are going to be in even donated a lawnmower for them!! Someone even provided them with a beautiful old solid wood table that pulls out and has extra leaves. There are only a few things left to put into the house and those things are suppose to come in on Sunday. When we got out there we unloaded the beds and tables we brought for them to use as desks; then headed out to Goodwill to see if we could find a sofa, no one had volunteered one. There was one there – it was a decent looking hide-a-bed. Before buying it, we wanted to look on down the street at WalMart. That’s where we found a futon for one of the sister missionaries to sleep on – she will be going home at next transfer. She should have finished this transfer (on Tuesday) however, the type of visa she has won’t allow her to leave the mission. So she is applying for a student visa so she can stay in the States and finish her education. She is from Malaysia – she understands our Chinese!! LOL We figured if we got a futon the sisters could figure out which one would sleep on it. But after Sister Choi is gone, they can use it as a sofa. Oh, and talking about sofas! The someone in the sisters’ ward donated a nice floral patterned sofa! It matches the beige wall paint! And the recliner is a tan, also looks good in their living room. I was working on putting together a writing table with the caravan full of things came. I ended up taking a backseat and turning over the construction to three elders. Bruce was in the back of the house putting the futon together. One of the Elders asked me if he could help Bruce – I told him to go ask. He took over the job from Bruce. What is interesting to me is ten years ago I would have never let anyone take away the job of putting the writing table together – now, I do. Ten years ago, Bruce would never have been in a mood for anyone to come near him as he tore into putting the futon together, which would have included a trip down profanity lane, destroying everything along the way. Today, working at the opposite ends of the house – I never heard any tools bounce off the walls; I never heard any bad words! Today he was awesome! AND what surprised me even more – When Elder White asked if he could help, Bruce let him, and the Elder ended up finishing the task!! Maybe ‘age’ is agreeing with us! LOL We arrived back in Bossier City just in time to pick up two more sets of twin beds before the store closed at 6pm. It is now 7pm, we are both beat – Bruce much more deserving of being tired than me, he worked circles around me! Tomorrow is up and out the door in time for 7:30am Ward Council meeting . . . I’m not going to fight it; during sacrament meeting tomorrow, I’ll just try not to snore! What do you eat after 7pm, knowing that you’re going to be hungry before you go to bed so you should eat right now?
