We just talked with Jim Dow, assistant DPW director and sewer - TopicsExpress

We just talked with Jim Dow, assistant DPW director and sewer department guru, who assures us that reports of sand in the water lines might be an Aquarion issue, but is not sewer-related. Sewer crews are busy all over the peninsula, dealing with various issues mostly brought about by the heavy, protracted rain. At XY Street, crews are working to clear storm drains that are clogged with sand that was put down on the roads over the winter. At Rockland Circle, private contractors are using pump trucks to collect inflow and augment the workings of the pumping station. Dow said the station is working, but too much rain in too short a period threatened to overflow the system, so the pump trucks are collecting wastewater and reintroducing it to the plant pipes down near the HRA area, essentially bypassing the Rockland Circle pumping station. Private contractors from Wind River and Rossano-Davis began work yesterday and are expected to be finished by sometime late this afternoon, Dow said. We did contact Ronit Goldstein, who does customer service at Aquarion Water. She said she hadnt heard that Hull residents were having any problems. If you do have an issue, contact Aquarion directly at 781 749-0064.
