We know many of you are curious about little Jeffreys story. Although, he has shown positive signs of progress, he still has a very long journey ahead of him. And make sure to share his story so he can find the loving foster or furever home he deserves! Jeffs former owner is a college student and was away at school for the semester. He left Jeff in the care of someone that he trusted to care for his beloved dog. When he returned two weeks ago from school and picked up Jeff this is what he found. Jeff had been starved for almost 3 months, has sores on his joints from laying on a hard surface, severely overgrown toenails, infested with parasites and is heartworm positive. Jeffs owner tried to nurse him back to health but realized it was far more serious than him just needing food. His former owner has always brought Jeff to the same vet that is caring for him now, Long Animal Hospital. We looked up his past vet records and Jeff was up to date on all vaccines and at his last check up weighed in at a strapping 70lbs. Jeff now weighs a horrifying 35 lbs. Because Jeffs owner is a student and must return back to school, and he does not have anyone in his life that he can trust to take care of his beloved dog he relinquished Jeff over to APBF.
