“We know that the stress from the finances of the last couple of years are a significant distraction from the educational mission, and that the Legislature needs to do something about it,” - John Huppenthal, State Superintendent said. “Our school system needs to be compensated at least for inflation,” he said. “And they need a little bit of catch-up ground from the cuts over the last couple of years.” Well we cant wait forever, so lets get the Chandler Override passed and keep our A district. New businesses are constantly moving into Chandler as a result of our strong schools. Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny admits, “there’s a lot of momentum right now,” when discussing recent news about jobs coming to Chandler. General Motors announced this spring that it planned to open an IT innovation center in Chandler, bringing an anticipated 1,000 high-tech jobs. And, Nationstar Mortgage expects to bring 1,000 employees to the Price Corridor this year and ultimately build its Chandler workforce to 1,200, the company said in June. Also, dont forget delivery company OnTrac, who announced this summer that it would move its headquarters to Price Road and eventually employ 850. When a city adds jobs, especially high tech jobs, it is the responsibility of the Community to provide the best education system possible. The override is the only way to ensure our kids are getting the best education possible. Schools cant afford to make further cuts. Chandler already has the lowest tax rate in the east valley and Arizona ranks near the bottom in funding for education. Is $4 a month too much for our kids? Please encourage everyone you know to get those ballots Marked YES and in the Mail this weekend. Our financial future and the health of the city is at stake. Thanks!
