We live in a one-room house, and this can complicate things - - TopicsExpress

We live in a one-room house, and this can complicate things - especially when Katmais mind is racing. Often some time after hes laid down, he pipes up with some question, and we try to tell him he needs to keep his questions for tomorrow because now its time to sleep. Tonight when he was resisting going to bed I told him if he went to bed, he could ask 10 questions when he got there. He was quite excited, and here what he came up with: 1. Why is snow white? 2. Why is ice blue? 3. Why do not very good conductors of electricity get hot? 4. How do lights (in the house, fluorescent and LEDs) work? 5. How do the lights on [a small charger in our house] move? 6. You know the thing that measures how much electricity the solar panel makes. How does it measure it? 7. How do the numbers on the microwave and toaster oven change? 8. Where is the iron in asteroids from? 9. So, you know the sun makes light. Why cant it get through the plastic, and the wood and everything else in the yurt? What makes things opaque? 10. How do the blue lights (on the wireless router) flash? I was able to do pretty well, providing detailed answers to 1,3,5,7,8,9 and 10. I couldnt remember how LEDs work (need to look that up now). And Ill do some more reading on LCDs. And Im not sure how meters measuring wattage work either. Hes still awake now - I can hear him muttering about elephants and reflection vs. refraction telescopes.
