We live in a society fixated on celebrity and fame. Between Reality shows, Talent competitions, Dating Bachelors, Surviving Hostile Environments, Fashion Battles and even Drag Queen Contests we are surrounded by some peoples need to do ANYTHING to get Famous. Im not going to pretend Im any different. At 25 Chases Dad and I moved to LA to seek the gold ring of Rock Stardom. Im really glad we did that. It put us front and center into what that FAME Monster really is, and Honey, She UGLY. After touring the country in a band, and 8 years in LA I can tell you truthfully FAME is the last thing I would ever want. Especially in todays world of Desperate Reality Stars clawing their way to get what? A spot on The TV Guide Channel? Host of Wipeout? Its Smoke and Mirrors and Very Cruel, people. And the money aint worth it. Look at this weeks sad event of the suicide of LWren Scott. I love my fashion, even though its a pretty empty thing, but Ive been designing & sewing clothes for Stage, Steampunk and Costumes for a long time. I admired LWren Scott - not because she was a lithe 63 model who ended up on the arm of one of the biggest Rock Stars of our generation, Mick Jagger. But because she was a young girl from nowhere - adopted into a family in a small town in Utah and by sheer will and imagination she created herself to be what her dreams where. And her clothes showed that. They are beautiful, elegant works of art that celebrated the beauty of feminity rather than making a woman look garish and hard. Everytime I saw one of her outfits I could tell she created it, because it had class. Sadly, LWren Scott must have found the Fame Monster too cruel and threw her gift away at only 49 years old. Its probably very hard to be a woman facing 50, no matter how striking and tall, when your boyfriend is surrounded by the hottest young nubiles, willing to do anything for attention. Its hard to have a failing business in the glaring light of Stardom. Its just too bad that she couldnt find that strong girl she must have once been to talk her out of the sad choice she made. Im glad I didnt get to that level, its too much to bear, I think. Especially when you really are gifted like LWren Scott was. cnn/2014/03/18/showbiz/lwren-scott-death-rolling-stones/
