We live our lives within the constructs of society, following the norms to meet cultural expectations, which beseech us to tirelessly work ourselves into the ground until were stressed enough to make utterances like I need a break from life for a while. A break from life. Just think about that, what it actually means. We live too fast to the point that we become automatic. We get so worn down, so spread thin that we want to make life stop-essentially, kill ourselves off for a bit-just so we can catch our breath and try to feel human and alive again. Thats so sad to me. It makes me wonder what the ratio is between how many people in this world smile out of happiness and how many smile just to keep themselves from breaking down. I think the moment the former significantly outweighs the latter, is the moment the world will finally be at peace.
