We lost a dear friend of Eritrea, and an ardent advocate of the oppressed in Africa. Dr. Martin Hill, a former researcher for Amnesty International, and a Board of Director for Human Rights Concern – Eritrea, passed away on Friday 9 January 2015., at 3:00 a.m, surrounded by his family. Martin wrked for over 32 years at the Amnesty Secretariat office in London, as a researcher and a campaigner in the human rights field. Eritrea was one of the countries he covered. I worked closely with Martin and learned a lot from his vast experience in the human rights field. He was a dear friend and my mentor. He was a dear friend to both of us and he was the one who introduced us many year ago. We were both invited to have lunch with him and his family.
