We made my familys Thanksgiving, late, tonight at my sisters house south of Waynesville... after driving about 10 hours from Nanuet, in messed up traffic road conditions. Didnt drive straight to the farm... Heard my nephew, Clinton and family, including new nephew once removed, Levi Hudson Reno, would be there. Drove on past the homestead... Then we came upon a doe that had just be hit by a van/suv. She was sitting, beautifully but in shock, in the middle of the fast lane. We swerved and avoided her, and in 10 seconds, passed the vehicle that had hit her. It took us a minute to turn around, because... we feared she was already going to be dead... but maybe someone in the next vehicle to strike her would get hurt... We had to go back to alert people to the danger.... but when we got there she had already moved herself off the road. Her leg was probably broken. The vehicle that hit her had alerted 911. She stood in a gully nearby still in shock. Her body violated and assaulted. I remember being in shock like that once. I doubt anyone will find her tonight. I pray that she doesnt suffer and has peace. But we sat there are my sisters house. I didnt have much of an appetite.
