We move on to Pam who is in St. Petersburg, Russia where she’s finally found Eric. She informs her maker that Tara has met the true death, but Eric has little sympathy. He’s shown depressed and confirms that the loss of Godric, Nora, and Sylvie has finally taken a toll on him. We flash back to France in 1986, where Eric is meeting a woman named Sylvie in a winery (She is reportedly a new love interest this season). Their lovemaking is interrupted by Nan of the authority, who reminds him that vampires needs to stay out of sight. She also introduces him to the True Blood drink and how important it’ll be for their kind. Eric doesn’t pay attention to the orders and continues living at his will. Nan sends people to take Sylvie and either kill her or Pam because Eric hasn’t been following directions. He tries to sacrifice himself, but they can’t accept that, so he chooses Sylvie to die. Back in present day, Pam tearfully insists that Eric wait for a cure to his H-Vamp disease rather than choose death. He doesn’t listen, so out of options, she tells him that Jason let Sarah Newlin live. This ignites Eric, who finally gets up from his resting place to begin his search. HBO again set up our Viking to be a depressed pussy who mourns the death of a human female that was never mentioned before in the history of the show. If Sylvie is the love interest that they were talking about, then does that mean that Eric has no purpose in the show and is set to die by the end of the season? Very lame storyline.
