We moved from Abu Dhabi to Dubai two weeks ago into a brand new - TopicsExpress

We moved from Abu Dhabi to Dubai two weeks ago into a brand new managed apartment building. Of course DynCorps opted for the smallest studio apartment they had. At least we only have a 20 minute ride to work now as opposed to the 1.5 hour drive, each way, from Abu Dhabi. Thats the good news. When we moved in I had no air conditioning, no hot water, no pool equipment, the equipment in the gym had no power, no telephone in the room and, worst for me, no internet. I finally got the AC fixed after three days. The hot water after four, however it went out again this morning. Still no internet or phone but they did get wireless internet in the lobby so at least I can check my email and Facebook accounts now. The excuse given is that we are in the middle of Ramadan. Its a BS excuse as work doesnt come to a grinding halt with Arabs during Ramadan. The intolerably slow pace just slows even further for a month. And for these stellar accommodations DynCorps is paying UAD 88,000 (about $23,760 a year for each of us). Oh, one more gem. We have a small front loading washer but NO dryer and we are forbidden from hanging clothes on the porch. There is more but I dont want to bore you more than I already have. As the old saying goes You cant make this stuff up.
