We need better leaders: June 19, 2013 at 8:00 am (Quote) Note the following points: 1) The clusters and affected areas are spread out all over the island and is not tilted towards any geographical area on the island. 2) This is an unprecedented situation not experienced in recent memory. 3) This is not a worldwide or a regional epidemic and is not even prevalent across the causeway as an unusual cause for concern (someone may wish to confirm that). So, it can be reasoned that the current dengue problem had been caused by the general state of this country. Not brought in from foreign countries. What could be causes that could have that led to this state? 1) Unprecedented overpopulation which allows more frequent human-mosquito-human transmissions due to the population density. Can anyone deny this? 2) General tendency for health institutions and administrations to operate as profit centres and having de-emphasized their roles as the healthcare providers to the population as their primary duty. 3) Too many constructions sites, providing breeding grounds, which are going on all over the island to keep up the building program of the papies to facilitate their 2030 goal of 6.9M.
