We need divine power in order to succeed in marriage Contrary to the life of hypocrisy, true Christianity gives us the power to act in accordance with God’s word, resulting in better marriages. It is important for people to know how to resolve conflicts in marriage, how to communicate, how to express love to one another. However, I believe all of that is a waste of time and effort if they fall unto the heart that has not been converted. This is because even though we know what is right we might still not be willing to do it. And even though we might be willing to do what is right we might still not have the strength or the power to do it. We need to come to the point where we realize that it is impossible to be a good husband or a good wife. It is impossible for one to love his wife unconditionally (agape), or for one to be truly submissive (yield always) to her husband on their own. And, on your own, it is impossible: to continually forgive one who continues to hurt you, to be kind to your in-laws who hate and despise you. However, we also need to realize that things that are impossible with men are possible with God. Paul in Philippians 4:13 say that: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This means one can be a good husband or a good wife, one can forgive, love, be kind. Yes, we can do all things only through Christ who strengthens us. By ourselves we might not be able to make it, but when God gives us the strength, we can do it all. This is how true Christians succeed whereas hypocrites falter and fail. When it comes to marriage, the Word of God to Zerubbabel is relevant and applicable: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6 NKJV). We might have riches, church membership, positions of leadership, etc., but without the Spirit of God we are not going to be able to succeed in marriage. Christians succeed only by divine power in their marriages. If one does not let the divine power in his or marriage, success in that marriage will impossible.
