We need some help with our trip itinerary... Well be in CR for 3 - TopicsExpress

We need some help with our trip itinerary... Well be in CR for 3 weeks this coming September and want to use this trip as a way to check out local areas for possible relocation; meet as many people as we can and hear about their own experiences; make connections that could help us score jobs; and enjoy the Pura Vida life as a tourist as well. Weve cut out a lot of things already as we dont want to just hop around for a day in each location, but I still think were moving on to the next place too fast and could use your expertise to narrow in on what we cant miss during this trip. Our expectations are to be back in CR this Spring for a 12 month work program, but if we cant find jobs, we wont be able to do this... So this trip may end up being the only chance we get at seeing CR for quite some time... We thought spending the first 5 days in and around San Ramon, Alajuela, Escazu and Atenas would be a good way to get to know the cities. In this time frame, we had also hoped to see the Arenal Volcano, Fortuna, and the Monteverde Could Forest. We had planned to then move onto the mid Pacific Coast (Jaco, Quepos, Manual Antonio and Uvita) for the next 3 days before we boated into the Corcovado for another 5 days for some serious adventure. After that, we were planning on heading over to Cahuita and Manzanillo for some beach vacation time. And then well head back to San Jose for 2 days before we fly out again. This seems like a lot to me, but its doable. My biggest fear is that were just going to run through our trip instead of walking it and getting to know the real CR. We also were torn about the best places to visit on the Pacific side during this time of year (wet season) and had hoped that our time spent in the Corcovado wouldnt be a waste due to bad weather. Were also sad to miss out on the Nicoya Pennisula but we just dont have time to do it all - and if we do move back, can easily get there the next time. Most of the trip will be done by bus and through CouchSurfing (let me know if you have a space!) as well to maximize our interactions with locals and make new friends. Does anyone want to chime in on this and provide their own experiences or suggestions? Are there parts of this trip that should be reconsidered in order to spend more time doing something else? And thanks for reading this lengthy post!
