We need to allow God to gather us, hold us, comfort us…we need to welcome what He has to give to us, and we need to yield to what He wills for us. God knocks, and He waits for us to open; God saves, and He waits for us to believe; God leads, and He waits for us to follow; God gives, and He waits for us to receive; God speaks, and He waits for us to obey. Unlike the rich young ruler, may we never walk away; unlike the prodigal, may we never run away; unlike many of the Lord’s followers, may we never turn away; unlike the unrepentant Pharisee, may we never stay away; unlike the lost sheep, may we never wander away. May our lives never be a reason for Jesus to weep. Lord, may my faith stay strong, may my trust not waver, may my love never grow cold. Holy Spirit, I welcome You, I drink of You, I depend upon you. Comfort me, speak truth to me, keep me as close to Jesus as it is possible for the human heart to go. But as they came closer to Jerusalem and Jesus saw the city ahead, he began to weep.
