We need to have a serious national conversation about housing - TopicsExpress

We need to have a serious national conversation about housing policy in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not having it. The public and private sectors are significantly caught in a culture of inaction juiced by ideological embalming fluid wrapped up in the greening of both political parties by the financial sector inside and outside the beltway. No reform proposal has the substance and traction to go anywhere. This cancerous oligarchic tumor has left the body politic and rule of law in civic rigor mortis and the housing sector limited in its ability to play a significant role in any economic recovery. Until we get serious about things like campaign finance reform, reigning in corporate special interests and pursue concepts like independent redistricting commissions, we will not have government of, by, and for the people. And until we get serious about ending Too Big Too Fail once and for all our economic system will not be the model for broad prosperity it should be in our local communities and around the world. Ill tell that to Newt, Julian, and anyone else...
