We need to have universal health care! We need more social programs! We need free college! We need........(insert here for infinatum)!!!! Its nice to care and want to do something for others (if thats what youre really doing). But the golden question that seems to be forever in limbo, the most ignored in political time in memorium is: HOW DO YOU PAY FOR IT? What? I cant be bothered with that! Im too busy doing my Jesus/Mother Theresa impression!!! Politicians (mainly liberals, but the class of establishment repubs joining in is growing all the time) love to put on the halo on, stand at the bully pulpit and declare their concern for everyone by making grandiose We need........! Then when everyone has gone and all the fanfare, backslapping and baby kissing had died down, they turn to someone and say Ok, you figure out how to make it happen. And then when the failure occurs and someone doesnt set it up right or the businesses and rich people just dont pay enough in taxes and the bill gets kicked down the road, they blame everyone else. Its a great gig! You really dont have to do anything and you will forever have a constituency that will vote for you if they think you care or theyre dependent on your handouts. Which brings us to the constituency who stands there in great euphoric adulation for the speech and whomever gives it. They wipe their tear from their eye and say, Isnt he/she great!?! What a great feeling to think that theyre voting for someone who is going to do something! Then they go home, get stoned and watch TMZ.
