We need to start a new thread devoted to the difference between GASIFICATION and INCINERATION. All on here know that using Incineration for regular WASTE and / or Medical and Pathological Waste (like Stericycle UT) is a very bad idea because of the air pollution it causes, even when it is carefully regulated, which......sadly.........Stericycle UT is not. There is NO gasification technology that can be used to process Medical & Pathological Waste. However, Gasification technology is used for W2E facilities that produce lower sulfur Fuels ( like fulcrum-bioenergy/facilities.html) or W2E facilities that produce methane that is used to turn turbines that product electricity. Jay Toups of BioRoot Energy has given us more information on that: Jay Toups Incineration and gasification are not the same thing. NIMBY groups and the media often conflate incineration and gasification because it plays to the strategies of NGOs (the squeaky wheels) organized to essentially obstruct on principle, lumping into one bucket two fundamentally different source reduction technologies for the sake of argument and whipping up a frenzy in the minds of those who have taken little or no time to understand the underlying science and technologies. Meanwhile, there are W2E (gasification) projects being greenlighted, and many more will follow as gasifications worth (efficacy) is demonstrated in the real world. enerkem/en/home.html fulcrum-bioenergy/facilities.html
