Here’s why: Happy, a growing 7-month-old female Hound blend puppy was living in an insufficient home where she drastically fractured her back hind leg when she was being placed, improperly, into her crate. Now safe with us, but homeless, Happy has been evaluated by multiple vets including our Dr. Boudwin, all of who determined that poor Happy fractured her growth plate – called a tibial avulsion fracture – and in order to live pain-free and walk properly, her injury needs to be surgically repaired by an outside orthopedic surgeon – at a cost of $3,000.
