We pray this morning in honor of our elderly citizens as we celebrate them this month. Please remember to join us today at Lourdes for a special mass celebrating Older Americans Month at 11:30am. Lord God, help us to honor and appreciate the gift of the elderly, and may we always share with them a double portion of your love. Reward them 100-fold for the many sacrifices they have made for others in their lifetime. Help us to learn from them the special graces of their age, such as docility to your will, appreciation of life’s simple gifts, and the supreme importance of love and respect for others. Look with mercy, O God our Father, on all whose increasing years bring them weakness, distress, or isolation. Provide for them homes of dignity and peace, give them understanding helpers, and grant them willingness to accept help. As their strength diminishes, increase their assurance of your love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
