Cheers Dear Owners, Gerald Ryan has accepted Flying Snitzel for the Group 2 Blazer Stakes over 1410m at Flemington on Saturday, 5 October 2013. Flying Snitzel has drawn barrier 3 of 16 and has been allocated 57.5kg under the Set Weights plus Penalties conditions of the race. Craig Williams has been booked to ride and the pair will line up in the last (10th) race of the day at Flemington, scheduled for 5:45pm. Flying Snitzel has arrived safely in Melbourne and is in good order heading in to her second up run. Interestingly she has followed the exact same path as when she previously ventured to Melbourne to win the Group 2 Kewney Stakes; 5th place in her first up run at Rosehill, travelling to Melbourne 4 days out from the race, and starting second up over 1400m at Flemington with Craig Williams on board. Hopefully it’s a great omen and she can put the winning piece of the puzzle in place on Saturday! Gerald commented that she worked very well over 800m on Monday morning, completing the trip in 52.12 seconds, running the final 600m in 36.77 seconds and 400m in 23.71 seconds. She pulled up well and was never off the bit during the workout. He believes our girl has improved significantly since her first up run and looked fantastic loading on to the truck to Melbourne. Of Flying Sntizel’s barrier Gerald commented that she has drawn a bit tricky in barrier 3 for where she likes to be placed during the race, however she’s on track for Saturday and he is expecting her to run well. For those heading down to watch the race on course at Flemington, could you please let me know as soon as possible to ensure owners tickets are allocated appropriately. Course entry points for owners at Flemington are the Members Main Entrance (left of Phar Lap statue), Flemington Train Station and The Hill Gate. The club has an owners and trainers room which you will be able to access before and after the race, and a winners room which you will hopefully have access to after Flying Snitzel runs!
