We recently held a Christmas movie night for vision impaired veterans at our centre in Sheffield. For the veterans to be able to enjoy the film we had a large screen with surround sound and put on a musical - there was plenty of singing! Many of the veterans also brought friends and partners who talked through some scenes of the film with them. To combat isolation that some of the veterans with severe sight loss experience we organise small get togethers where they can come and enjoy all of their favourite past times as part of a group.
