We recognize and honor our classmate, John D. Amen, as he recently accepted the position of Grand Exalted Ruler, National President, of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, for the year 2014-2015, at the 150th session of the Grand Lodge in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 14, 2014. We are very proud of John and his wife Marcia! John announced the theme this year is “Elks: Elevating America.” He said, “Elks elevate, or lift up, America by their good works in their communities. The good works make America a better place to live and work. When we get into a veterans hospital and entertain the patients with a game of cards or a healthy snack., we are ‘Elevating America.’ By such voluntary acts, we make our country better than before. When we grant a scholarship to a student who would otherwise miss the opportunity to attend college, we ‘Elevate America.’ Our community service in so many ways works to lift America up and in so doing we are ‘Elks: Elevating America.’”
