We saw some great costumes tonight. I correctly guessed the winners of the under 2, 2nd - 6th grades, and 7th-grade and over costumes, but I missed the 3-6 yr olds and the Family costume contest. What is really cool is that the winner of the 2nd - 6th grade category wasnt planning to win, but I stopped her on the grounds and assured her that she had the best costume. [She was a 50s-style waitress. Her costume was so realistic that I initially stopped her because I thought she was taking orders for the stand!] The absolute hands-down winner was a Transformer costume. A 12-year old and his Dad made it entirely from cardboard (except for the lights, obviously), and it was constructed so masterfully, that pretty much everyone at the place wanted to take a picture with this kid. Everyone but David, or course. He was cool with just taking picture of the costume. [OK., fine. It was the mothers and little kids who wanted pics. Where oh where is my little kid?] David Bear had a great time, even though he did not win the contest this year. I guess hell have to settle for winning three years running as a Whoopee Cushion. He did get lots of great comments and one woman asked if she could sit on him. That was our cue to leave. The freaks come out at night.
