We saw this film tonight at the Unitarian Universalist Church in White Bear Lake. It confirmed my opinion of Thurgood Marshall as one of the great unsung heroes of this nations atempt to fulfill the promise of our Constitution. I also learned much about Justice Marshall I didnt know. For instance he barely escaped being lynched by law enforcement officers in the south, the evening after he won a case in court. The shear guts, grit, and intelligence of this man, lawyer, and later Supreme Court Justice is awe inspiring. It took the heroes who gave their lives to suffer slings and arrows and speak eloquently of dreams to come. All the while Marshall labored to change the law of the land through the very laws that folks had passed to keep other folks in chains (Plessy v. Ferguson...). Afterwards we heard from the film maker Mick Caouette and the narrator Mary Moore Easter, who also treated us to some of her touching poetry. Marshall helped awaken this nation from its dark night of the soul. Much has been done, but so much remains to do. There are those who, like their forebarers for over 200 years, are dedicated to blocking forward progress and legislating us backwards. We cant and wont let this happen. Watch this film if you want to see true American Exceptionalism. https://youtube/watch?v=HfqLvtFoY0Y
