We see in the media today that prominent Newcastle developers Jeff McCloy and Hilton Grugeon have become embroiled in the Operation Spice investigation. The ICAC will investigate when it resumes next month, whether these 2 men have made prohibited donations to the Liberal Party coffers during the 2011 state Election. These men join a long list which includes Nathan Tinkler, Ann Wills, Darren Williams, David Sharpe who are apparently under investigation. The question must be asked, if these people have made illegal donations, and we certainly are not saying they have, what reasons would they have and what would they hope to gain by the donations. According to The Herald, Mr McCloy refused to comment.
