We shall never be deprived of good by a Lord Who Laughs I was - TopicsExpress

We shall never be deprived of good by a Lord Who Laughs I was sitting at the back of the lecture theatre and behind me were a group of girls discussing their plans for once they graduate. All three of them applied to study Medicine – clearly very intelligent individuals. But what put me off from listening and admiring their conversation was their use of foul language at the end of almost every short statement. It wasnt too long ago when I too applied to do the same course, but was denied by the One who Chose something better for me. So I asked myself, “Why is it that Allah facilitates some individuals to do what they have intended to do, over others, but more precisely – His believing slave? Why does Allah choose to facilitate others over us (the believers) by strengthening their abilities and memories despite their apparent sins, which would otherwise hinder us? I thought of what Imam al-Shafi’i (rh) went through during the days of his youth - he complained to his teacher about the weakness of his memory, so he was advised to abandon rebellious acts as a means of preserving it. So I asked myself again...”Why is it the case, that a believer should find him/herself struggling in this area, or struggling in general, while He allows others to thrive?” Then I was reminded of what a sister said to me as soon as I told her I was rejected from a Medical school I really wanted to get into – “Allah, out of His Love for His slaves – shelters them from the dunya and makes wide for them the akhirah.” Those words stuck with me and will continue to live with me... I sat in the lecture theatre, despite not knowing what the reality of my future would be... but I smiled to myself and I hoped that Allah was Laughing at me too. What Allah favoured us with is far greater than any other worldly provision and gift bestowed upon the rest of Mankind. The thing which separated me from those girls and the thing which elevate us above the rest of humanity...Our Islam. Our Shahadah. And so long as we hold onto it and are constantly in a state of gratefulness for it (His Guidance), our hearts will *always* remain contented in times where others are overtaken by uncertainly, grief and worries. When our hearts gaze should ever deviate and attach itself to other than its Lord, remind yourself of this favour. Our greatest worry and concern should be is that a day should come where we rise from our beds to find ourselves losing/weakening in our connection with our Beloved. Smile and hope your Lord is Smiling too, for we will never be deprived of good from a Lord Who Laughs. The Messenger of Allah (s) said: “Allah Laughs at the despair of His slaves although He soon changes it. [Ibn Majah] Meaning Allah Laughs a laughter which befits Him in times when people despair, for He Knows that happiness and relief is about to descend.
