We should all be for the completeness or wholeness of any individual. Partnering with God to help ourselves and others move towards spiritual, emotional, financial, physical and mental freedom is of the noblest of causes. While we have a calling to care for others, the case can be easily made that learning to love and care for ourselves is primary. For instance, ...love others as you, or, in the same way, that you LOVE yourself. Putting others before ourselves is perhaps prefaced by fundamentally believing that we are in fact wholly loved by God and are free to love ourselves. Loving ourselves, the person whom we might secretly, hate the most. Are we truly offering love to others if we dont believe it for ourselves? Way too many people continue to remain strangers to themselves, and consistently weigh themselves down with condemnation and impossible expectations. Loving yourself is not selfish.
