We should use the upcoming Wellman podcast to launch a pre-Code series. And then build on that... with episodes dedicated to Film Noir and 70s Exploitation. Since the whole project seems predicated on an anti-cinephile stance, this kind of history might provide an outlet for two opposing attitudes at once: a healthy slam against the ersatz aesthetics of the Noir Priesthood (with its glamor and lighting fetishes) *and,* heaven forefend, honestly joyous elegies. There are other, largely unexplored angles. And we have these incredible documents from the Warners archives -- never-before-published memos! Its something nobody talks about... the profound extent to which senior executives pushed for a brazenly (and, ultimately, impossible) Leftist agenda. Cmon, mooks, lets bring some of this (costly) research to bear!
