We spent another full day working on the trails again - 5 1/2 hours! It was just Larry, Barbara, Ginger, Sharon and me. Long day with just the 5 of us! Larry and Barbara were on 4-wheelers, so they went to one area while those of us on horses went to finish re-routing and marking the loop that we discovered last week had been partially destroyed. At one point I tried to recover a small detour we used a couple of years ago, but it wasnt passable, so I tried to climb Alfie up this little incline that had sticker vines on both sides, but he managed to get caught in one of the largest vines anyway! I told him several times to WHOA and STAND and he did - with his head up high and not very happy, LOL! Ginger had Sharon hold her horse and brought her clippers down to save us; Alfie was good and didnt kick her in the head, LOL! Then we went and worked on the north campground area (anybody thats done the ride knows where THAT is!) We ribboned the living crap out of the place; so hopefully it will be better this year. The other bad place - the boat ramp area - is going to be marked really well this time; Barbara had a REALLY good idea for marking it, so it should be way easier to figure out this year! Ginger, Sharon and I had a FUN time with a collapsible saw cutting through a large, dead tree that had fallen right across the trail. There was no way around, so one of us would saw while another one got a shoulder under the trunk to keep it from binding up the saw and the 3rd got to hold all the horses. Then wed switch off when the sawer got worn out. It was tiresome, but we got it done. Now that Im completely worn out & my arms are dead, I get to go and get my hay tomorrow! YAY..... NOT!
