We spent the day with contractors at the house. They took notes to make their own estimate. We found a lot of mold forming in the basement. I dumped all of the totes I had in the basement into 1 big box so we would have some totes to store things in. Unfortunately some totes had water in them and I didnt find out until I dumped one on top of the dry stuff. A few people stopped by to look inside the house. Its hard to explain everything over and over again. The contractors said they will be gutting the house. They will rip everything out all the way down to the studs and rebuild from scratch using the existing frame. Rewire, insulate, walls, floors. The way they described our insurance policy was: turn the house uoside down and shake it. Everything that falls out is NOT covered. Which basically means they will replace my dishwasher and my dishwasher only because it was inside the cabinets. Everything else is our responsibility to rebuy. We are starting all over again. They told us to expect to need alternative housing for at minimum 4.5 months from when they start, which may not be for another month.
