We started the day with the Cotswold Vale Famers Hunt at Longhope - TopicsExpress

We started the day with the Cotswold Vale Famers Hunt at Longhope and Christmas had started early with lots of tinsel. As they spent a good 40 minutes drinking a stirrup cup at the meet, some of them were a bit tipsy, including the Field Master. As they had nowhere to go , a couple fell off in the first half an hour, the field were trying to work out where to go as their leader had gone AWOL, there was much giggling and not much chance of them doing any damage we decided to leave. Was not long before we found the South Herefordshire (see Mal the huntsman on video) who were meandering around in the Brockhampton area. After a couple of fruitless hours in which we do not think they were doing much except riot on deer they put the hounds into some strawberry fields and a fox came out in front of us. The area was liberally sprayed with citronella and 2 lead hounds were stopped by rating them from following that fox. It was getting dark but on Mal went putting hounds into some thick brambles and inevitably we heard gone away from one of those on point as they hunted a fox in the dark. We called them back to some extent and hope that it gave the fox a chance to get away. A fox was seen running in the opposite direction but they hunted towards the river with even the huntsman losing the pack, at this time of year we would expect a brace (i.e 2 foxes) as they are pairing up now. We left him gathering the hounds.
