We survived traveling the loneliest highway in the US. Yep we actually pulled our RV on Highway 50. The whole reason for going this way was to see the Great Basin National Park. It was on fire and smoke was everywhere. NUTS! Instead we got to view some really great scenery from the highway. Learned not to let our attention wonder as the lanes were very narrow with not a shoulder. And some of the grades were long and steep. With the outside temperature at 100, we had to turn off the A/C to keep the engine heat under control. We didn’t overheat, but I caught the temperature gauge climbing before it happened. From then on any long steep climbs, the A/C went off and we cooked. 460 miles of tuff trailering… I’m done. We are hanging out tomorrow. So I asked the KOA owners what there was to do in the area. They mentioned Fort Collins. It is staffed by Mormon Missionaries so I will get the LDS pitch. Oh gee how fun. We are going to view cave drawings instead. In Fillmore Utah for two days.
