We think of our trip in two segments: pre-move and post-move. This is a recap for the month since we took our flight from the ATL. Its been quite an experience. Weve met some wonderful people and have felt extremely safe so far. A couple of random facts/observations that stand out to date: (1) there are a lot of folks doing similar travel; (2) Australia and New Zealand are not cheap (we knew this going in); (3) I have grilled more times in a month than in the last two years in London; and (4) no ID checks on any domestic flight in either country! Countries visited: 2 Flights taken: 7 Miles driven: 970 Trains taken: 1 Buses taken: 4 Number of camp grounds stayed in: 6 Number of other types of accommodations stayed in: 6 Wildlife seen: white macaw, penguins, seals, dolphins, lace monitors, parakeets, lizards, crocodiles, peacock, flying foxes (Australian bats), and wild goats Tours taken: 4 Approximate budget used: 20% (does not include overall trip expenses or Europe) Mos favorite place: Queenstown Ericas favorite place: Cape Tribulation Mos favorite activity: tie between snorkelling off of cape trib and grilling lamb chops Ericas favorite activity: cuddling a koala
