We thought you may love to hear a happy update on Bindi, the staffy rescued from Hawkesbury Animal Shelter several months ago. She was not listed for rehoming due to the growth on her stomach. Her future was grim; she was to be released to rescue only and no one had offered to take her, probably due to her unknown medical concerns. We took her into care, not knowing what this horrible growth was to be, nor if it was curable. We sought help towards the cost of her vet work and a wonderful supporter, Rita Blundell, immediately offered to pay the whole cost of the surgery which was totally unexpected and a very generous gesture. Funds from others contributed towards testing the tumour in the lab to find out exactly what it was. The great news is that good margins were obtained and the tumour was a low grade one mast cell tumour. Staffies are known to get mast cell tumours, and although its not great to have any tumour, a low grade one is the best result you can hope for and this means that Bindi will now go on to lead a long, happy life with the same life expectancy as a dog without a tumour. This is great news for Bindi and we thought we could not be happier, but the good news continues. After attending the recent RSPCA Event at Glebe recently with volunteers Mark and Michelle, Bindi found herself many admirers. She was perfectly behaved on the day; an absolute delight. She received much interest and her lucky new owners are now Bryce and Sally. Bindi now lives in Sydneys Inner West with a Beagle friend and is sure to be spoilt and loved in her new home. We could not have asked for a more happy ending. Thank you to the supporters who donated towards her surgery including Rita, and who made her new life possible. Also a big thanks to Mark and Michelle for choosing to take Bindi to the recent event to promote her and show the public what great dogs staffies can be. Bindi is a perfect example of the breed. Thank you to Bryce and Sally who adore her and are sure to give her the love and attention she has missed in her earlier years. A bleak and uncertain future has resulted in a happy ending for Bindi. We could not have asked for more :) :) :) Some pics below of Bindi pre op, and Bindi in her new home.
