We took in a litter of baby squirrels a few weeks ago that had - TopicsExpress

We took in a litter of baby squirrels a few weeks ago that had been raised by the public, doing the best that they could. They were turned over to us for release. However, upon immediate inspection, we realized the babies were easily 4-6 weeks behind in their overall growth, had little to no fur in places, and were starving (due to improper feeding). Not only were they not ready for release, but it will take at least 2 months to bring them back to good health. They have to stay inside during this time since their poor health would cause them to die if they were outside trying to battle this cold weve been having. Thats the bad news. The good news is that they have doubled in size since arriving. They are filling in fur in the thin/bare spots. They have stopped attacking me for food. (Yes, they are still quite enthusiastic about being fed on time! But no more biting at anything they can get their teeth on in the hopes that its food. Their diet has been high in acorns due to the higher fat content, which they sorely needed. So Id like to thank everyone who has been donating acorns to us. The dirty acorns have been going outside to the deer. And the clean ones have been used inside for the squirrels and others who need it here.....including these precious ones. THANK YOU for all the support we receive from our AWESOME fans on this page! We cant do it without you! You are making a HUGE difference!
