We tried Moes tonight for the first time looking for alternatives - TopicsExpress

We tried Moes tonight for the first time looking for alternatives to El Spero. Got there about 8:30 not realizing they closed at 9, which is pretty early. Decor is pretty beat up and drab, tables looked like theyd been plucked from the 70s. That aside, we ordered pretty standard fare - burgers and fries. Mine a banquet, hers a cheeseburger. Then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. Nearly half an hour later, out it came. HUGE is an understatement for the burgers. Knife and fork time because if you can believe it, my mouth is just not that big. We started with the fries, which were hot but real overcooked to the point of being leathery. Couldnt get through more than a few, even when their mediocre gravy was added. Now the burgers were another story. Very good, both of them. Lots of cheese (two kinds), tons of fresh garnish. Other than the slow service, our waitress was efficient. We will return to check out the breakfasts. Dinner for two: $31.00 with tip. A little pricey, but you get a lot of food.
