We understand that there are a lot of people that need assistance and we want to do everything we can to assist them, especially this time of year. Gardner has many avenues to help people in town. Gardner Edgerton Multi Service Center provides Outreach Services to individuals and families in need living in the Gardner/Edgerton School District. Please call to make appointments. JoAnne Haworth, 913-715-8980 510 W Main Suite D in Gardner. We also have Joy’s Closet, on 504 E Main St in Gardner. Through generous donations and community support, the JOY Community Closet offers clothing to our community. The Johnson County Christmas Bureau provides holiday assistance to low-income residents of Johnson County, Kansas. At the annual nine day Holiday Shop, pre-qualified clients, by appointment, select groceries, personal care and household supplies, childrens clothing, hats, gloves, scarves, coats, toys, gifts, and books pegged to family size, age, and gender. Contact 913-341-4342 [email protected] Charity organizations are much better equip to handle the needs of every situation. We want to be very cautious with the posts on the CFG asking for assistance. We understand we can’t necessarily stop this, but we’ve had incidents in the past where people asking for help on the CFG have taken advantage of other people’s generosity. If you have a charitable idea for the CFG we ask that you contact myself, Ryan Learned or Aaron Weatherford before posting. We all love Gardner and most of us are very charitable and want to help others. We just want to do what we can to make sure no one is taken advantage of. We hope everyone understands.
