We went to Whonnock lake today (near Maple Ridge), what a beautiful day, sunny, just a touch of a breeze to keep it from getting too hot. Jeff and I fished while Lisa Kayaked, Jeff caught 2 trout, I didnt catch anything (except a bit of a sunburn). We barbequed burgers and had some yummy salads too with fresh strawberries for dessert. Here are some pictures I took there and a poem I wrote while sitting at the picnic table. https://plus.google/photos/106634539598995249914/albums/6029114562941673089?authkey=CIfPla3ulK_fzgE WHONNOCK LAKE Summers day at the beach Dragonflies dance out of reach Scent of charcoal fills the air Cooking steaks that once were rare Lily pads bloom along the shore Pine cones dot the forest floor Kayaks glide atop the lake Very little sound they make Beavers are keeping very busy Building dams in a tizzy Bald Eagle soars in the sky Looking for dinner while up high Diving down he grabs a fish What a tasty eagles dish Puffy clouds dot the sky While the mountains loom so high Children play on the shore Building castles and so much more Sun dances on the leaves How can one see and not believe There is a God who made this all Spring, summer, winter, fall Mountains, lakes and trees so grand Made by the Creators hand Such beauty surrounds me everywhere While charcoal scents the evening air The dragonflies dance out of reach On this summers day at the beach Debbie Preuss © June 25, 2014
