We went with some friends on a tour of how Oahu handles its trash and recyclables. It was a great tour, on a fancy Roberts air conditioned bus, and it took us to the electric company, a steel recycling factory, a redemption center for glass and plastic bottles and then to a green waste center where they make mulch out of green waste and reuse it or sell it to contractors. Private customers can also get mulch at wholesale prices. It was very well done, fun and took us to the other side of the island. Then we all went to Chilis for a beer and lunch. Great day! FREE!!
