We were all created for ecstasy and pleasure, but when we fill our spiritual hunger with physical pleasure we always come short of satisfaction, always looking for the next high, the next thing or person to make us happy only to realize that what you thought wasnt, like a mirage in the desert, jesus said in John 4:14 AMP But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life. In this passage jesus is referring to the spiritual thirst that can only be quenched through Him. Its only when you experience God that you can be satisfied and it will last forever.
