We were asked today to choose our top three options for the place (other than Beijing that we would travel: The options included: ___ -Discover Chinese Kungfu -Henan Province -Discover Chinese History -Shandong Province -Discover Chinese History- Zhejiang Province -Discover Chinese Ethnic Culture Jilin Province -Discover Chinese Ethnic Culture Guangxi Province -Discover Chinese Folk Art- Tianjin municipality -Discover Chinese Folk Art- Hunan Province This is what I know off the top of my head: ___ I have not been to all of the provinces that are offered so I cannot offer a good opinion on each. Henan has the Shaolin Temple (where you see the monks doing gongfu) Shandong is the birthplace of Confucius and it has the sacred Mt. Tai. Zhejiang has Hangzhou, with beautiful West Lake, this is a larger city that I have been to many times but I am not absolutely sure we would go to Hangzhou. Guanxi is in the south and when I went with adoptive parents I remember tropical style plants if we went to Nanning, but it also has Guilin which is the place of Chinese paintings with the limestone mountains that go steeply up and down. JiLin- is way up North by Korea, I have never been here. Used to be Manchuria, has two of the four natural wonders of China which is the rimmed forest, and the landscape of Jilin. Looks interesting as I look it up. TianJin is more Urban with old culture street and some crazy modern architecture as well. Hunan- Birthplace of Chairman Mao, more rural, although it wont feel as rural as here.
