We were honored to present awards to three very special people at the 3rd Annual Kanes Cookout yesterday. Deb LaBruzzo received the Compassion in Action award for her many years of animal advocacy and rescue work. Deb is coordinator of the Homeless Cat Project in Springfield. Dave Ratner, Owner/President at Daves Soda and Pet City received the first Compassion in Business award. Dave sends 5% of purchases made with a Kanes Krusade Friends of Daves card back to Kanes Krusade. Tracy Root, Animal Control Officer at the Polverari/Southwick Animal Control Facility, received the Abundant Advocacy Award. Tracy made room for Boomer, a Kanes Krusade dog who had to be surrendered by his family due to landlord issues. She has kept Boomer since February and he has thrived at the shelter. We are hopeful that he will be adopted soon. These are just examples of the many ways these extraordinary people help animals. How wonderful to be able to honor them and give them our heartfelt and sincere thanks for their compassion and action.
