We were simple peasant farmers, who could neither play not afford - TopicsExpress

We were simple peasant farmers, who could neither play not afford an instrument. All we had was a song in our hearts and our voices and the word. Whatever the word said we obeyed with simple faith. As the sabbath drew nigh:- our clothes ironed, food for the sabbath all prepared, boots blacked. Mum would throw her best meal on Friday nights, we looked forward to these Friday nights as they were a delight to us. Though we had one set of sabbath best clothes they would be all washed and clean, ready for the morning when we would go to church. Jeans and Tshirts were not really recommended as sabbath clothes as they did nor reflect a reverent attitude. Though the less fortunate among us would always be welcomed with whatever clothes they could afford. Then sun died in the west, we would gather around the fire and sing the gospel songs, and we would open the word and mum seemed to know all the bible and had answers to all our questions. Lessons learnt by that fireside. oh boy! The ambers of that fire of simple faith suckled from my mother is glowing in my heart to this very day. In the low moments of this journey, I remember the power of simple faith from those days and stand up and keep moving. Happy sabbath saints Below is one forgotten hymn that used to speak to our souls.
