We were talking about closed peasant communities today. Some of them were expected to dissolve half of a century ago but they are still there. It was particularly interesting to me because my father was born in such community (Anosovo, Siberia), produced as an occasional result of industrialization (more precisely, of the building of Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station). I was thinking maybe the decline of these communities produces some means for them to keep going. Maybe there is some poetics of decline that functions according to its laws.
