We wish a Happy Belated Birthday to Aldo Leopold born on January 11, 1887, in Burlington, Iowa. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service (1909–28). In 1924, the countrys first national wilderness area was created at his urging. A fervent campaigner for the preservation of wildlife and wilderness areas, Leopold became director of the Audubon Society in 1935. That same year, he founded the Wilderness Society.
