We work closely with Keepers of the Wild and this was just posted. If you can help or know anyone that can help, please contact them!! IMPORTANT! PLEASE SHARE! Keeper of the Wild has just lost our lease with the state where our center is located. They refuse to renew the lease so we have no where to go and 90 days to pack up years and years of work. Janet is devastated. We have animals there that will have to go somewhere, we have pens, large cages, washers and dryers, and our educational building is full. Our outside buildings where we store equipment and other vital material are full. We are in tears thinking about how overwhelming this is, and we need to start looking for another location that is affordable. We exist off of donations and fund raisers. No one at Keeper of the Wild is paid. Many of us have maxed out our own personal credit cards caring for the wildlife. We don not receive money from the state or from grants. We hope to be turning to the media soon with a plea for help. Janet asked for everyone to please spread the word, and we hope someone can step up with maybe some donated land, maybe even closer to Charleston. We have to have a large enough building for supplies and wildlife. Does anyone know someone affiliated with the land trust in Charleston? Thats a thought. Well post more later. Right now we are all in a state of shock and panic. We save wildlife, heal wounds, raise orphans on 2-3 hours of sleep for months, clean cages and wipe bottoms. Many of us have been with this non profit organization for many years. Our new rehabbers our the best. The idea of having to close our doors is heart breaking. We serve the Low Country as well as many other counties. It is devastating to know that there may be no place for orphan or injured wildlife to go which will mean they will be euthanized. Anyone with contacts or ideas, please let us know! facebook/pages/Keeper-of-the-Wild/113271962083830
